MAYEIN Holds World Book Day Celebration in Lagos and Ibadan
Mentorship Assistance for Youths and Entrepreneurs Initiative (MAYEIN) celebrated the World Book day in grand style with her annual Major cities Book-A-Thon. The event was held simultaneously in Lagos and Ibadan on Tuesday, the 23rd of April 2019.
The Book-A-Thon featured 40 teenage readers from both cities, who competed in marathon reading competitions for the chance to win book vouchers and other amazing prizes.
Attendees were treated to Masterclasses on Creative Writing, Journaling and How to Start a blog. Participants also spent time with accomplished authors and were given the opportunity to engage with them and learn writing and publishing tips.
The major cities Book-A-Thon which held for the second consecutive year is designed to show teenagers and their families that leisure reading can contribute in a valuable way to the growth and development of young people and ultimately the entire nation.
The Book-A-Thon which held for the first time in Lagos was in partnership with the Improved Literacy and Development for Africa Initiative (ILADFAI). The event was supported by American Corner Lagos, American Corner Ibadan, VCASH, Booksellers Limited, Kachifo Limited, Laterna Ventures, and Kasher Limited.
